WWE Rumor: Reigns Vs Lesnar Is Still WrestleMania’s Main Event Roman Reigns has been rumored to face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34 since he “retired” The Undertaker on the Grandest Stage of Them All last year. Of course, rumors are strictly rumors. But according to Dave Meltzter of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), the plan is still to have Reigns challenge Lesnar for the Universal Championship. That will be one of the two main event matches, with John Cena vs. Undertaker being the other. If Reigns and Lesnar are in the main event, it will mark the fourth-straight year of The Roman Empire headlining WrestleMania. Of course, these two stars faced off in the main event three years ago – which saw Seth Rollins cash in his Money in the Bank contract to steal the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It’s safe to say that this main event would draw plenty of criticism from fans and wrestling prognosticators. Lesnar only wrestles on a part-time basis, but will have been the Universal Champion for a full calendar year. On top of that, a Reigns main event would be another example of Vince McMahon shoving this star down the throats of the WWE Universe – who refuse to accept him as the face that runs the place. But at the end of the day, Lesnar and Reigns are two of the most talented, decorated and marketable superstars in the WWE today. Match-wise, they have the potential to put on one of the greatest main events in WrestleMania history.Reigns’ bout with Triple H at WrestleMania 32 drew plenty of negative reviews, given its length (27:11), and the unpredictable finish. Last year’s bout with Undertaker wasn’t much better, but it at least meant a ton in storyline and helped Reigns build up his character even more. So for those of you who don’t like seeing Reigns headline every major pay-per-view, you may have to wait another day. It’ll most definitely be The Beast vs. The Roman Empire to end WrestleMania 34.
